Discovering the Light

Alone, I sit outside the orb of light

Afraid to enter, lest by ent’ring find

Myself – a sad and sorry soul who might

Awaken to the absence of my mind.

An edge of darkness closes out the view

I might have used to look beyond my life

Upon this sphere.  I want to live the truth

But find myself embroiled in pain and strife.

Yet stepping bravely from the dark to light

I leave behind my fears instead to trust

The bearer of the Light which holds my heart.

There’s one who’s greater, full of pow’r and might,

Who bears the cross, an ensign to the just,

And aids me while he plays the bigger part.
